On Thursday, 13 October, 2016, the King of Thailand passed away at the age of 88. This ushers in a profound period of mourning for Thailand, and we wish to express our heartfelt condolences.

Due to the mourning period following the death of the King of Thailand, government-sponsored 2016 Loy Krathong/Yee Peng events in Chiang Mai have scaled back somewhat. See the Chiang Mai Loy Krathong schedule of events.
